ideaCity, also known as ‘Canada’s Premier Meeting of the Minds’, is an eclectic gathering of artists, adventurers, authors, cosmologists, doctors, designers, entertainers, filmmakers, inventors, magicians, musicians, scientists and technologists.
Produced and presented by Moses Znaimer, the week long project is a highly demanding event broadcasted live online and shot for television. It sets the stage for creative solutions and production quality of the highest standards to produce a seamless professional show.
As Technical Director my role was to oversee the complete planning, management and co-ordination of all visual aspects required in the show.
This involved –
- Weeks of planning and co-ordination with the Producer, Director and various departments for all technical requirements.
- Managing the Technical Budget. This involved weeks of co-ordination with suppliers and dealers, quote requests and approvals, equipment demo and research into new technology and production solutions.
- Planning and setup of the control room and stage visual design.
- Setup and connectivity of a multi-camera setup that involved professional ENG cameras, a jib and 3 Sony Robotic cameras.
- Setting up a reliable professional broadcast quality linecut and multi iso recording solution.
- Management and delegation of duty for smooth workflow during setup and strike of equipment.
